Looking for Leah...

For the past few weeks I have been attending these social gatherings hosted by the talented Leah for local ETSY artists called ETSY Tea... Normally these events are held in Laurelhurst park. This past week we planned to go berry picking on Sauvey Island at this great no spray farm.
all I knew was the name of the Island.... and that Leah has a pathological fear of answering her cell phone for any and all reasons.

Here are some photos of my afternoon spent 'Looking for Leah'

Through fields and lanes I drove and drove until I found her car... but she was nowhere to be found... which wasn't half bad, as it was such a lovely day.

Eventually though... I found her. Spotted her by the orange pants.

We spent some time picking raspberries and cherries... mostly I just ate them.

Leah's 'special friend' Tim is gonna make raspberry jam with the bounty... I cant wait!

Okay... so today is a GREAT day!
I sold my first two hearts yesterday to my friend Daniel... He bought them as gifts. The response to my work has been outstanding. I am very excited about my future as a lampworker.
Here is a picture of the hearts that he bought...

The nub you see at the back it the glass loop that the cord slips through.

The colors that I have got out of boro are great. Im using mainly glass from a local producer called Northstar glassworks.

...the picture isn't half bad either...

Signs of Stumptown

So we finally had a full weekend of Sun here in Stumptown. (thanks Sun!)
I was playing tour guide showing my rather drunken friend (who was here for the festivities of Portland Pride) around my new city... an activity that always seems to make one look at things from a new perspective.
Here are a few snapshots of some of our destinations...

mannequin shopping

Today I went mannequin shopping... looking for suitable necks to start snapping pix of my pendants and necklaces on.

There is this great place here in Portland called Portland Store Fixtures... its got TONS of used mannequins...mannequin parts... amputee mannequins... just legs... heads... etc.

In some ways it was a bit creepy... but overall it was pretty cool!

...the past...
